Sections of the Health and Safety code of the State of California require Poliomyelitis Immunizations of all school students.  Code 3380: “…no minor or adult shall be admitted to any public or private elementary or secondary school as a pupil unless such a person has, prior to admission, been immunized against agents approved by the State Department of Public Health.”

State law requires that a child entering kindergarten (primer school), or any California school for the first time must have:

  1. Older children who have developed a contempt for the Christian way of life will not be admitted. Ridicule of other students in their attempt to live for the Lord will not be tolerated. Any pupil in grades 3 – 12 who wishes to re-enroll and have skipped one or more of the required activities the previous years may be asked not to return.

  2. Emotionally disturbed children or those who are physically challenged may not be admitted if their condition is beyond the capabilities of the school.

  3. The Pastor and the Principal retain the authority to determine who should be admitted and who should be allowed to continue or be dismissed from FABBA.

SELECTION OF STUDENTS

Selection of students is based upon achievement, the testing program, interview with the administration, religious beliefs, and openings in the particular grade levels. FABBA does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, nationality, or ethnic origin. The school as appropriate will give pre - enrollment tests. You will be notified as to the time of the examination.

PRE-ENROLLMENT diagnostic test will be administered by the school. You will be notified as to the time of the examination. Result of the test will assist the school in determining the academic capabilities of the child for placement purposes.

NOTE:  FABBA Administration reserves the right to refuse enrollment and disenrollment of any students after careful deliberation.

PROBATION

All new students are admitted on a probationary status, academically and financially for the first six months. Students must pay financial obligations in a timely fashion. New students can join only one extra-curricular activity until probationary status is over or upon the recommendation of the teacher.

WITHDRAWAL FROM SCHOOL

A student may be asked to withdraw from Faithful Ambassadors Bible Baptist Academy without breach or infraction if the administration deems the student is not in harmony with the philosophy and programs of our school.

The school reserves the right to withhold report cards and student records until tuition and other fees has been paid in full.  By signing the registration form, parents are authorizing the school to withhold report cards and other records until tuition and other fees have been paid in full.

If a student withdraws during the school term, the teacher will turn in his grade(s), averaged up to that date, for that term.  Faithful Ambassadors Bible Baptist Academy is not obligated or responsible for supplying assignments or grades for students who have been withdrawn.

ATTENDANCE

All students of FABBA are expected to be in school Monday to Friday according to the school’s calendar. The school office will announce any changes in the school calendar.

MANDATORY ATTENDANCE

Parents/guardians are required to attend the mandatory Parent Orientation, Parent and Teacher Conference, and the Parent and Teacher Fellowships.

Awards Night is still a part of school days. A student who fails to attend this ceremony may forfeit his/her award especially on the category of Perfect Attendance. Only excused absences are allowed as specified in this handbook.

NOTE: Failure to attend the above activities without valid reason/excuse  will be grounds for probation or suspension.

ABSENCES

Any time a student is absent, the office will try to call the home to verify that the parent is aware that the student is absent.  A written acknowledgment signed by parent or guardian must be presented to Supervisor when a student returns to school after an absence.

If a student fails to bring a note acknowledging his absence, he will receive an automatic one-hour detention.  The note must then still be brought the next day in order to be admitted to class.

Four unexcused absences in a quarter will necessitate a conference with parent and principal. A student having six unexcused absences will result in suspension from school for the balance of the entire school year.

Unexcused means any absences not accompanied by a written doctor’s excuse.

A written explanation signed by parent or guardian must be presented at the school office when a student returns after an absence. A phone call by the parent or guardian is also acceptable. However, not all absences may be excused. These are excused absences per Educational Code 46010:

  • Illness (to be verified).

  • Quarantine under the direction of county or city health official.

  • Medical, dental, optometry, or chiropractic appointments.

  • Funeral service for a member of the immediate family.

  • Jury duty

Having a note sent in advance should cover foreseeable absences. Whenever possible, doctor, dentist, music practices, and other appointments should be scheduled when school is out or after normal school hours.

Excessive absences will inhibit a student’s progress. This is particularly true in elective classes like PE and Bible. One’s presence is required to accumulate the necessary class hours for credit. An absence is an absence!

AN UNEXCUSED absence is defined as the following: skipping school or staying out of school for any reason other than the reasons listed under “excused absences.”

TARDINESS

Students are considered tardy, if they are not in the opening assembly by 8:00 AM. They are also considered tardy if they are not in the classroom seated, and quiet two minutes after breaks. Thirty minutes detention will automatically be given to tardy students.

Being tardy is disruptive to the class as well as the individual’s progress. Therefore, excessive tardiness could necessitate a conference between the parents/guardians and teacher.  If the situation is not resolved, the administration will ask the parents/guardian to withdraw the child from FABBA.

There is no such thing as an “excused tardy”. No absence will be considered EXCUSED without a written doctor’s note.

NOTE:  Three tardiness within the school year will be equal to one absence.

TEST AND QUIZ MAKE-UP POLICY

Students who miss a test or quiz due to any absence will be required to make up that test within one week of the absence.  Tests which are not made up within this time limit will be recorded as a zero in the teacher’s grade book.  Exceptions may be made by the administration because of unusual circumstances.

All required elements (i.e., major projects such as book reports, etc.) must be completed before a grade is given in any subject.  A major project will be lowered one letter grade for each day it is submitted late.  When a project is one week late, the student will receive a detention until the project is completed.  If a student is absent on the due date of any project, the project must nevertheless be delivered to the school, or the late penalty will be imposed.

CHURCH ATTENDANCE

The importance of faithful church attendance cannot be overemphasized.  One’s commitment to Christian education as offered at Faithful Ambassadors Bible Baptist Academy is evidenced by the family’s commitment to this local church.  The Christian school is not a substitute for regular family worship in church.  Students and parents are expected to be faithful, “three to thrive”, church members.

Faithful Ambassadors Bible Baptist Academy announcements may be made at any time from the pulpit at Bible Baptist Church.  If a family is absent due to sickness or vacation, it is the parents’ responsibility to contact other parents to see if there have been any schedule changes regarding school classes and starting time.
